Oh I see what you’re talking about now. You’re talking about the element in Massachusetts’ law that requires a “proper purpose” for someone seeking a permit to purchase a handgun. This restriction does not apply to long guns.
Massachusetts residents also need a license whether they’re buying a handgun or long gun, the FID card.
Do you have documented examples of individuals with no history of violence being denied permits to purchase handguns under the “proper purpose” requirement? If so, I’m all ears.
